Fledging Artist Takes Flight

I’m so excited about the upcoming arrival of Spring I can barely contain myself!!  Spring to me is a time of creation and renewal, a budding of great ideas and inspiring oneself to reach new heights.  Toward that idealism, one of my biggest aspirations has always been to find a way of combining my love of art with my love of writing poetry. Amazingly, I just found the perfect segue into that realm when I completed one of my recent paintings, “California Gold” (juried into California Art Club’s Signs of Spring May 2024 Exhibit)!! Recalling the feeling I had painting in the midst of the beautiful poppy fields last year, reminded me of the feeling I had from a similar outing in the spring of 2019 during the now infamous Lake Elsinore SUPER BLOOM. That outing inspired a poem by the same title, “California Gold”. Initially, I realized that sharing my poem with my social media unveiling of my painting, would be a great way to promote both.  THAT being a huge success, led to my next thought… what other paintings have I done that might work with one of my poems? I found a few that might work with some tweaks, but then I realized, I’m perfectly capable of creating a painting for any one of my existing poems and/or writing a poem for any one of my existing or future paintings. With adrenaline surging, I set about painting a painting and writing a poem to go with it!! What fun…and what joy the results of that effort brought me and my Facebook followers when I rolled out, “Emerald Lace!!” You can find both of these poems with their corresponding paintings under OIL PAINTINGS, right here on my website!!
